Welcome to Distributor Dispatch.

My life started on a dairy farm in Southwest Virginia, where I learned early that there is a lot more to food and the food industry than what eventually ends up on a plate. Long before I understood terms like supply chain, commodity markets, or distribution networks, I was seeing firsthand the work, planning, and logistics required to move food from farm to consumer.

After college, my career took me into restaurant management. I spent years working in restaurants, eventually managing high-volume operations and learning the challenges that operators face every day. From food costs and labor management to inventory control and guest satisfaction, I gained a deeper appreciation for how many moving parts are involved in running a successful foodservice business.

Those experiences eventually led me into food distribution, where I discovered an entirely different side of the industry. The world of food distribution sits at the intersection of agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, sales, and foodservice operations. It is an industry that impacts nearly every meal served outside the home, yet many people know very little about how it works.

Over time, I’ve developed a growing interest in food markets, commodity trends, distributor earnings, supply chains, and the business decisions that shape the industry. I found myself regularly reading earnings reports, market updates, industry publications, and economic news to better understand the forces driving foodservice.

Distributor Dispatch was created as a place to document those observations and continue learning. My goal is to share industry news, market developments, public company updates, and insights from the foodservice world in a way that is informative and accessible.
