Who I Am
My name is Tyler, and I have spent much of my life somewhere in the food industry.
I was raised on a dairy farm in Southwest Virginia, where I gained an immense appreciation for the hard work, planning, and time required to bring milk from farm to cup. Those early experiences sparked an interest in the business side of food that has followed me throughout my career.
After earning a degree in Business Management from the University of Hawaiʻi, I spent several years in restaurant management, working with operators and teams in both corporate and independent foodservice environments. Those experiences provided firsthand insight into the challenges restaurants face every day, from food costs and labor management to inventory control and guest satisfaction.
My career eventually led me into food distribution, where I discovered a deep interest in the systems, markets, and businesses that keep the foodservice industry moving.
Why I Created Distributor Dispatch
Distributor Dispatch was created as a place to learn, share ideas, and explore the business behind the plate.
The foodservice industry is one of the largest and most fundamental industries in the world, yet many of the forces that drive it operate behind the scenes. Commodity markets, supply chains, distributor earnings, logistics networks, and industry trends all play a role in determining what ends up on restaurant menus and grocery shelves.
I created this site to document industry developments, track public market information, share observations, and continue learning about the ever-changing world of foodservice and distribution.

Distributor Dispatch focuses on:
- Foodservice industry news
